RENTING SERVICE

HOW MIGHT WE add value to worn workaday clothes? Why do we keep on buying more and more clothes but never have anything to wear? The German retail and logistics group Otto challenged us to find a way they could offer customers a variety of clothes in a more sustainable fashion. There are so many things nowadays we don’t need to own anymore. We share cars, rent fully furnished apartments and eat out at restaurants. So, do we really need to own everything we wear? May we introduce to you iPACK*, our answer to all of these questions… iPack is a service that lets frequent traveller businessmen travel without luggage. While they wait for their connection flight, they can put together a virtual closet with the assistance of an iPack fitting counsellor who gives them advice on their choice of style and size. The clothes they select online are ready for the customer in their hotel room. For off-the-cuff occasions, an iPack-express service is also available, ready for customers directly at the hotel. The clothes are cleaned in the hotel’s outsourced laundry when the guest leaves and are then ready for the next iPack customer. The hotel launches its own clothing rental cycle. Once the fashion season is finished, the clothes are sold on iPACK Refurbished online, the first vintage shop to offer clothes in different sizes! * prototype name //Team Project of “Team iPACK your bag” (Josephine Belke, Ralf Gehrer, Roxanna Noll, Dea Dantas Vögler, Michael Wessel) at theHPI School of Design Thinking.
